SUV Crate

An SUV Crate is a double door folding crate designed to fit two together in the back of an SUV, or van.

Versatile SUV crates are a little different from regular Midwest Double Door Crates in that the doors are on each end of the crate.

This allows your dog to enter from either the passenger compartment, or through the tailgate. Maybe it's one route for a clean dog, one for a dirty dog!

Easy To Remove Pan

The pan stop allows you to remove the pan without opening the door of the crate, or taking the crate out of the vehicle.

Convenient Carry Handles

These removable carrying handles make it easier and more confortable to carry your crate once it is folded down.

Secure Double Door Latches

We know that once Fido is in the crate, you'd like iot to stay that way! SUV Crates feature secure, double latches.

What About the 606SS and 608SS?

These crates are no longer manufactured. The SL36SUV is the direct replacement for the 606SS, and the SL42SUV is the replacement for the 608SS

SUV Crate Pans

Replacement ABS Plastic Pans are available for both sizes of SUV crate.

For the smaller model: replacement pan for SL36SUV & 606SS

For the larger model: pan for SL42SUV & 608SS.

NOTE: SUV crates are specialty crates, measuring either 36"L x 21"W x 26"H, or 42"L x 21"W x 30"H, and they have a door on each end. Depending on the age of your crate, it may have either a Black Epoxy Coating, or a Silver Ganvanized Finish, and they are all “Fold and Carry” style.

If your crate does not match this description, you do not have an SUV crate and would be better off going to our help page for selecting the correct Midwest replacement pan.

SUV Crates

SUV Crates are folding crates. The folding mechanism is very similar to other Midwest “fold & carry” crates.

However, when folded down the crates are not quite as compact as other folding crates of comparable size.

SL36SUV folds down to 36"L x 21"W x 6½H
SL42SUV folds down to 42"L x 21"W x 10"H

Normal folding crates are 2" - 3" high when folded.

Will They Fit in My Vehicle?

Since SUV Crates are designed to fit side-by-side in the back of your vehicle, they may or may not work in your situation. Here are some guidlines to assist you.

Selection Guide

The following steps are intended to assist you in determining whether the crate will fit in your vehicle.

1. You will need a flat space in the back of your vehicle measuring either 36"L x 42"W, or 36"L x 42"W
2. This area must be free from obstructions
3. You will need enough height for either 26"H, or 30"H depending on crate model
5. Remember to take note the slope of your tailgate and ensure it will close with the crate in place
6. If all of these criteria have been met, SUV Crates should fit

NOTE: We can not, and will not guarantee a fit in a particular situation. We offer these steps in order to assist you in determining whether the products may be suitable in your application.

SUV Crate Replacement Pans

Replacement pans are available for both the current SUV Crate models. The products themselves are just below this text.

Models SL36SUV and 606SS take the MW23PAN, and Models SL42SUV and 608SS take the MW24PAN.
