Midwest SUV Crates

Midwest SUV Crates are designed to fit side-by-side in the back of mid to large SUVs and Vans. Two models are available, and although one is larger than the other, they are both 21" wide, giving an overall width of 42" for both crates together.

Two crate doors on each end of the crate provides great flexibility in how you use the crates. You can let Fido in from the vehicle side when he's clean, and through the tailgate when he's not!

SUV Crates Fold Down

SUV Crates are folding crates. The folding mechanism is very similar to other Midwest “fold & carry” crates.

However, when folded down the crates are not quite as compact as other folding crates of comparable size. SL36SUV folds down to 36"L x 21"W x 6½H, the SL42SUV to 42"L x 21"W x 10"H

Regular folding crates are 2" - 3" high when folded.

Will They Fit in My Vehicle?

Since SUV Crates are designed to fit side-by-side in the back of your vehicle, they may or may not work in your situation. Here are some guidlines to assist you.

Selection Guide

The following steps are intended to assist you in determining whether the crates will fit side-by-side in your vehicle.

1. You will need a flat space in the back of your vehicle measuring either 36"L x 42"W, or 36"L x 42"W
2. This area must be free from obstructions
3. You will need enough height for either 26"H, or 30"H depending on crate model
5. Remember to take note the slope of your tailgate and ensure it will close with the crate in place
6. If all of these criteria have been met, SUV Crates should fit

Two Door, Folding Design

These crates are double-door models and they are a folding design. There are some differences between our typical double door crates, such as iCrate Double Door and Life Stages Double Door, that you will want to keep in mind before purchasing.

Door on Each End

The doors are on each end of the crate (the narrow ends) and this allows you to let your dog in through the passenger compartment, or through the tailgate. If you intend to turn the crate sideways in the vehicle, you'll need a side door and one of the crates referenced above would be better suited.
